Cold as Ice

I’d stop that tear from rolling,
Down from her eyes to her cheek,
I’d catch it in my finger but no,
My fingers have turned to ice.

I’d hold her tight to stop her,
From shaking and being afraid,
I’d embrace her to peace but no,
My arms have both turned to ice.

I’d kiss her lips to stop the dark,
The darkness corrupting her insides,
I’d kiss her till she was free but no,
My lips have frozen to beyond ice.

I’d talk to her and hold her ear,
I’d say something to make her smile,
She is a lovely sight, I adore, but no.
My tongue has turned to ice.

I’d hold her close till the last sunset,
To free her from this darkness that exists,
I’d protect her from everything evil, but no.
My heart has turned to ice, I have turned to ice.
