Sanity Lost

I saw you today at dawn,
In a beautiful meadow,
You stood there in the field,
And called out my name.

I would run to you, fast as the wind,
Thanking god for the gift of you,
I’d sweep you clean off your feet,
And hold your body close to mine.

I’d hold back the tears of joy,
As your lips would touch mine,
I’d struggle to catch my breath,
As you’d lock your fingers with mine.

I’d savor this moment,
Which took me so high,
I felt my head spin swiftly,
And my heart throb wildly.

I’d hear a voice call out,
A clear, stern voice called,
That did harshly say to me,
“Here, have your medicines.”

I’d look straight into her eyes,
And say “Thank you, nurse”
She’d then lock the door,
As I’d stare at the barred window.
