What I Know

This is all that I shall ever know,
This life is all I shall ever lead,
This world is all I shall ever know,
This heart is all I shall ever beat.

A world fractured by its citizens,
A home broken by a dark divorce,
A separation of humanity and humans,
Which moved us on an uncertain course.

A broken light unable to illuminate,
That which is hidden in darkness,
Each beat within pulses hot hate,
Each beat darkening dark's abyss.

A soul draws energy from its heart,
A heart that beats, lives and loves,
As hearts seek to do from the start,
A light that blinded darkest coves.

But who or what, over land and sea,
Burns the light at each pulse beat?
What mystical force or selfish deity,
Prevents light from burning complete?

There are no gods nor demons living,
Who touch the heart and stir it again,
To remove the dim and brightness bring,
No entity alive healed Man nor Woman.

There are no angels, winged nor fallen,
Whose enchanting harp and shining halo,
Could rekindle the fire of the light within,
What delays the lights last beam to flow?

An energy as powerful and pure,
As the one that burns under chest,
Only exists burning within another,
For a heart itself, heals a heart best.

But the world has been fractured and broken,
And the darkness has possessed the human core,
A light burned out, beyond its last dim lingering,
Replaced with darkness, each beat, with more.
