My True Friend

As far as I can remember,
Every morning I woke up to,
Was a morning absent magic,
absent colour, absent emotion.

My guard held up,
Like a solid phalanx,
Let no one near me,
none near my heart.

For none can stab me,
If none can come close,
For none can betray me,
If I have no people.

I don't know how you did it,
But I'm glad that you did,
My phalanx shattered like glass,
My heart stood bare before you.

I feared the worst, but got the best,
The one time my heart had lain open,
It was rewarded with the purest ally,
Thank you my friend, for being so true.
